It's a Hand Sewing machine circa 1890 made by the Jones Sewing Machine Co. at their factory in Guide Bridge Audenshaw Manchester.
Referred to as the Cat Back, Serpentine or Swan Neck. The stitch is formed by way of a cylindrical / boat shaped shuttle, and the needle looks like a hand sewing needle with the eye situated just above the point.
Advanced features for its day include a variable stitch length that's accessed by rotating a thumb screw on the front of the sewing bed.
As soon as our sewing machine repair man has got it working and given it a polish, it will go on display at our Sewing Machine Centre alongside the very latest computerised machines that we have on show.

Interestingly enough, the site of the factory where this machine was made, is now the UK headquarters of Brother Sewing Machines.
