Hi, I’m Gill from Cheshire Creations. I have 2 kids both of whom are petite and I have often struggled to find clothes that fitted, stayed up and weren’t too babyish for their age. I soon got the bug for making clothes with beautiful fabrics that were better quality than what you can buy on the high street. |
SIMPLICITY PATTERN S8850 GIRL'S DRESS & BAG
MR FOX FABRIC
I especially love making clothes for my little girl, she is very much a Tom Boy but I wanted to make her something girlie for a change. I picked Simplicity Pattern S8850 as it had 2 dress options and a romper, but it was the coordinating bag that swung it for me. My daughter picked out the cute Mr Fox fabric and then we picked the black cotton for the bow.
I cut out all the pieces needed to make option B which is the dress with sleeves but once I got in the zone I sewed up the wrong bodice and actually did option A. Do I unpick the mistake or keep going? I kept going as it was still going to be a cute dress. The bodice came together really quickly, it was made in 2 pieces and then overlapped to create the wrap over effect.
For the bag I used the Mr Fox Fabric.
For the inner and outer parts: Polar anti-pill fleece and heavy interfacing.
One thing to remember is that if you use a directional fabric the pattern won’t be the right way round on all sides.
And here we go the finished items!
